The Large Cabbage White migrates to the northern plains in the spring. My sightings are from Aligarh and Delhi. In 2004, when there was an intense cold spell in February, my first LCW sighting in Delhi was on March 19. In 2005-6, when the winters were mild, it was on February 27 and March 4 respectively. They are quite common till the early summer - I have seen them here till May.

Breeding activity picks up in April. In April 2003, I found a group of their caterpillars in Aligarh - about 30 big ones in a 3 feet by 2 feet bed of nasturtium. As they were all of the same size they were likely from the same batch of eggs.
